When you’re creating your web page there are many different programming langauges and servers that support certain ones. Linux hosting is probably the most common thus making .php and .html pages appear more in the SERPs naturally. We all know whenever there is a small anonomly such as this, it gets people assuming about every little aspect of these pages including the extension of the page such as .php .html .asp .js.

It makes no difference when creating your site the programming language and filename extension you use to present the pages. You do not get any penality or benefit to having a .html page over a .asp page what so ever.
